....Furthermore, though I wasn't too inclined to complain about Emilia Fox dressing like a tart all the time, wouldn't someone please tell her not to wear so much make-up? Why did there have to be so many guest stars? And did Marty really have to have a new power every week? It was all so predictable. It didn't work, for me.

Despite having a reputation for this sort of thing, I am invited to dinner occasionally, and was treated to a very pleasant chicken curry last Saturday evening with a small gathering of friends. Naturally we watched Randall & Hopkirk, and I resigned myself to keeping my criticisms quiet so that the others could enjoy it.

To my surprise, Paranoia turned out to be very good indeed. For the first time, I felt the mix of comic and serious actors was well chosen, with the likes of the excellent Paul Rhys (as Douglas Milton) deadpanning next to more outrageous turns from the delectable Joanna Kanska (Magda) and Tom Baker. There was also a lot of farting, of course - which is always good value in comedy - and a fantastically unpredictable climax in which Marty pulls Jeff's bed (to which Jeff has been sado-masochistically tied) through the wall. ....

[ Mr Denisof played Richard Shelley in this episode of Randall & Hopkirk, and the character was killed by the bed being pulled through the wall, just as he is about to kill Jeannie (Emilia Fox) and Douglas (Paul Rhys). Personally I think Mr Denisof was the best thing about this episode. I don't find 'bodily functions' funny, call me a prude if you want, so didn't particularly like the episode. I hadn't watched the program before and sharn't again, but I will probably play the video a few times, just to see Mr Denisof in 'James Bond Assassin' mode, ...oh, and his American accent... :-) - Lizzie ]
