Is Angel a bit rubbish?
Hunter, pathologist, exorcist.... is there no end to Wesley's talents....

....What about Wesley?

Well, like many a Buffy devotee, I was never more than lukewarm towards Season Three's superfluous Watcher, and uneasy about having him arrive on Angel. But on the evidence of six episodes with Wesley Wyndam-Price, as compared to nine with the late Allan Francis Doyle, the verdict is clear: the more recent trio based at Angel Investigations functions no less enjoyably than before.

Again, Wesley's involvement can be more diverse than in Sunnydale, whether as rogue demon hunter, demon pathologist or plucky would-be exorcist. Wesley's humorous aspects, though sometimes overdoing the pratfall role, are fun, and his interplay with Angel is much more intelligent than his ineffective behaviour in Sunnydale. With some commendable work from Alexis Denisof in the role, and much improved writing for the character, Wesley has quickly become an asset to Angel.
